'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith renews battle with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the thrilling dying seconds of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from outside the box, and the defender quickly hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The victory capped an incredible turnaround given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. During the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win secured a next round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's volley from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for attempting the shot from that far out," stated Galbraith, who started in midfield before shifting to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the City players who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they understand how to dictate and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're doing well and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at League Two Salford City, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was likely a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's former international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the neighborhood in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How difficult was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I thought I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would mix with followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
